August Favourites

OK, I am aware this is a little late… but better late than never? Am I right?

It’s fair to say I had quite a lot of favourites last month, so much so that I had to narrow them down to create a reasonably lengthened post. I loved a few makeup products and even a Netflix Original TV series, a film and an album.

So what were my August Favourites?

  1. Makeup Revolution – Iconic 3 Eyeshadow Palette
  2. The Body Shop – Fresh Nude Foundation
  3. NYX – Liquid Suede Lipstick
  4. Zoella – Blissful Mistful Body Mist
  5. Superdrug – Coconut Water Shampoo & Conditioner
  6. Stranger Things
  7. Suicide Squad
  8. The Pretty Reckless – Going to Hell

1. Makeup Revolution Iconic 3 Eyeshadow Palette

Do I even need to say anything about this palette? I mean c’mon just one look at it is enough to make you want to buy it. This palette is absolutely gorgeous! (Oh, and always out of stock). I wore these eyeshadows non stop throughout August and has carried on into September. It’s pretty much the only palette I’ve been reaching for because it just consists of autumnal colours.

It has a beautiful range of light and dark eyeshadows making this an every day eyeshadow palette and even a night time palette. There are pearl, shimmer and matte shades making this palette perfect. Whether you’re just going for a natural look for school/college/work or even a night out, there are shades that will suit any occasion. The eyeshadows have a chalky feel to them and the eyeshadows are all extremely pigmented and buildable. This palette is only £4 which is an absolute bargain for such a good quality palette.

2. The Body Shop – Fresh Nude Foundation

I got this foundation in the lightest shade The Body Shop sold which is Chelsea Porcelain and HALLELUJAH! I have found a foundation that actually matches the colour of my painfully pale skin tone! (And breathe). This foundation is absolutely stunning and gives you such a fresh and natural look. When I wear this foundation it actually makes my skin look healthy. This is a dewy foundation with a semi-matte finish. This foundation gives such a flawless finish even though it’s only a light coverage foundation. It also has SPF 15 and is actually quite moisturising. The thing I love the most about this foundation (other than the shade) is the fact it is super light on the skin!

3. NYX – Liquid Suede Lipstick

Yes I know… its grey. But I like it! I had been eyeing up this liquid lipstick for too long and I finally plucked up the courage to buy it and wear it. I’m so glad that I did because surprisingly i recieved quite a few compliments for wearing this lipstick! #BeBoldBeBrave. Is that even a quote? It is now. Anyway, I have only worn this once because let’s be honest this isn’t the type of colour that goes with everything, but even so it was one of my favourite products during August. This liquid lipstick certainly isn’t as drying as others and it actually feels really light on the lips! And as for the colour, I really do love it.

4. Zoella – Blissful Mistful Body Mist

This smells gorgeous! I wear this pretty much every day. It is actually strongly scented which is surprising as it is a body mist and not a perfume and it honestly lasts all day. It’s such a fresh and clean scent and probably my favourite body mist. Plus, the packaging is beautiful. The rose gold polka dots and the pink Zoella writing just look so cute.

5. Superdrug – Coconut Water Shampoo and Conditioner

I recieved these little shampoo and conditioner samples for free from Superdrug and I really like them. They left my hair feeling really soft and hydrated. You also don’t need to use much either because the shampoo and conditioner foam up quite a bit. And of course they smell of coconut, leaving your hair smell lovely all day.

6. Stranger Things

At this point if you haven’t heard of Stranger Things you really need to consider crawling out from beneath your rock. Stranger Things is a sci-fi/ horror set in the 80’s (cue awesome music). Stranger Things reminded me a lot of the work of Steven King.

To briefly explain, it is about a 12 year old boy named Will that goes missing and his mother that doesn’t give up searching for him, even if she makes herself seem crazy.

I liked this show so much I’ve actually began rewatching it. It’s absolutely brilliant and full of horror, adventure, sci-fi, friendship and much more. Plus i’m just in love with Eleven, the little girl that kills grown men with her mind and still manages to be absolutely adorable. And let’s not forget, one of the stars of this show is Winona Ryder! Who doesn’t love Winona!?!? But to be honest all of the actors in this show are amazing. I could literally bang on about this show all day, but I won’t.

If you haven’t already watched Stranger Things, just watch it, OK?

7. Suicide Squad

I had been looking forward to this film for quite a long time and when it came out it had a lot of criticism. Of course I was sceptical as to whether I would enjoy this film after the constant bad criticism I had read. I genuinely loved Suicide Squad and I didnt see any fault with the movie. It was full of action from start to finish. Of course Harley Quinn and the Joker stood out amongst other characters but i genuinely thought that all the characters were amazing. Will Smith’s performance in particular was a favourite of mine and he made Deadshot such an intriguing character. I really enjoyed watching all of the characters background stories too. Suicide Squad is visually amazing!

A lot of complaints about this film were to do with the fact that the Joker isn’t on screen as much as people would have liked, and whilst I understand this critique, I personally thought it made the film a lot more exciting. After all this was a film about the suicide squad, and not just the Joker. This was one of my favourite films of the year and not only that I have fallen in love with the Suicide Squad soundtrack!

8. The Pretty Reckless – Going to Hell

I had this album on repeat throughout August! I’ve never really listened to The Pretty Reckless before but then I stumbled across a few of their songs on YouTube that are from this album. My favourite songs from this album are Going to Hell, Absolution and Why’d You Bring a Shotgun to the Party. Love love love it.

And that is it for my August Favourites. I’m aware this has been quite a lengthy post, which is why I postponed doing it for a while oops. But it’s here now and I hope you enjoyed it! Well done if you read this far. Until next time.
