High Street vs High End

Hello everyone, today’s post is a little bit more exciting as I am doing a collab with the lovely Olivia

Me and Olivia decided that we would talk about some of our favourite products and what it is for us that makes them so great. We are going to be discussing high end products and high street products. Olivia will talk about 5 high end products later on her blog and I will talk about 5 high street products that are similar. That way you can pick an alternative as some people like to stick with a smaller budget when it comes to makeup and others like to spend a little bit more.

These are the products I love and have chosen to discuss.

1. LO’real True Match Foundation

So first up is my absolute favourite foundation. I love LO’real True Match foundation so much and I don’t think I will find another one that beats it.
This foundation has very good coverage and does not feel cakey at all. It is actually quite a light weight foundation which I wouldn’t expect from a foundation that is good at covering spots and blemishes. I have my foundation in the shade Rose Ivory, one of the lightest shades. I have tried this foundation in the shade Ivory which was lovely but I found that it had more of yellow undertones but the Rose Ivory has pink undertones which is perfect for my skin colour.
This foundation gives you a flawless finish and lasts all day. I purchased mine on amazon for just under £8 with free delivery.

2. Rimmel Lipstick – One Of A Kind 810

This lipstick is my favourite red lipstick ever. I personally think that 810 One -Of-A-Kind is the perfect shade of red. On the colour spectrum I tend to prefer the darker red tones but for so long I found it hard to find a shade I liked. I like this shade because it is a distinctive red but still dark, I’ve found that a lot of dark reds are have more purple or black tones and I’m glad that I found one that had neither. This lipstick applies easily and lasts a while too. The colour is intense and very pigmented which is great. It does need to be reapplied throughout the day once or maybe even twice depending on whether you’re eating/drinking but it does have a substantial consistency.
This lipstick doesn’t leave your lips feeling dry as it is quite moisturising. I find that a lot of Rimmel lipsticks are quite moisturising. This lipstick also doesn’t leave your lips looking flakey and gritty when fades which is a big deal for me. I absolutely love this lipstick and the quality is really good, especially since you can pick this lipstick up for about £6.99.

3. Maybelline Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara

image

Maybelline do some great mascaras and their Falsies Push Up Drama mascara does not disappoint. This mascara has definitely grown on me. It is probably one of my favourites. I wasn’t particularly fussed on it at first but it gets better after a few uses.
It gives your lashes a good length and made my lashes look so much longer. The mascara really separates your lashes and prevents them from clumping together.
I love the applicator on this mascara and it’s probably one of my favourites. The reason I really like the applicator is because the bristles get smaller towards the end which really helps you put mascara on your inner corner lashes which is often quite difficult.
One thing I absolutely love about this mascara is the packaging! The packaging is just stunning and has such pretty colours. I know packaging isn’t a huge deal but this one definitely grabs your attention. I would highly recommend this mascara and you can pick it up for £7.99.

4. Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil – Hazel

image

I have been using this eyebrow pencil for about 2 years now, its really easy to use and doesn’t apply harshly. Mine is a hazel colour which is a light to medium brown with red undertones. That’s the only fault I have with it is that I don’t particularly like the red undertones in it but other than that it’s perfect and therefore why I continue to purchase it. You can pick this up for about £3.99.

5. Makeup Revolution – Flawless Matte Eyeshadow Palette

image

The final product I’m going to talk about is one I think everyone needs. Revolution do some incredible eyeshadow palettes and a variety that caters for everyone. You are bound to find a palette that suits your needs, whether that be shimmery/matte palettes, nighttime/daytime palettes, super brightly coloured palettes, more subtle nude coloured palettes or a palette that has all of the above. There’s something for everyone. I can’t recommend this drugstore brand enough!
But anyway, this palette in particular I believe is perfect for everyone.
The Flawless Matte Eyeshadow palette consists of 32 matte eyeshadows ranging from light to dark colours. This palette has a gorgeous range of creams, browns, corals, pinks, greys and black. The colours are very easy to blend, highly pigmented and very good quality. You can create lovely natural looks with these eyeshadows or purely use them for the perfect base coat. They are really buildable too.
My only critique about the shades are that some are very similar, so similar that when applied they look identical, but that’s not a huge problem because there are plenty to choose from. You can pick this palette up for about £8 which is an absolute bargain for 32 high quality eyeshadows.

I hope you have all enjoyed this post and found that you really want to try one of these products. Don’t forget, Olivia has done the other half to this blog post where she discusses 5 similar products that are high-end, for those who don’t mind spending a bit more when it comes to makeup!
