This morning I went on a very long and tiring walk up Skirrid Fawr mountain. Skirrid Fawr is 1594 feet high and is situated in Wales at the Brecon Beacons. Skirrid Fawr is one of the Black Mountains, and is also known as the Holy Mountain.
The mountain that you can see in this photo is Sugarloaf.
When we first started our walk the temperature was -6 degrees but after an hour the temperature increased to -4 degrees. (Yes, I was freezing). It’s lucky that with layers of clothing and a very exhilarating walk its easy to keep warm. However; I forgot to bring gloves! So my poor hands were cold for a lot of it.
This walk isn’t an easy one but it is brilliant. The views are absolutely beautiful and it feels like such an achievement when you reach the top. Especially when you bring a flask of tea and you sit at the top with a cuppa and embrace the wonderful view.
This was actually the second time I have climbed this mountain and the experience was completely different to the first time. The first time I climbed Skirrid Fawr the mountain was covered in snow!
Me and my dad ♥
I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed putting it together and taking these photos! (That blue sky in the last photo is just beautiful! We picked a good day to go.) Thank you for taking the time to read this post and looking through the photos.
Let me know in the comments of any mountains you have climbed or are planning on climbing!
